Exclamation Security tip for everyone!!!

I recently had my truck broken into and everything was taken. My entire sound system, cd's...everything was gone. I discovered hand prints and smudges on the bed cover and the back window was slightly open. So I figure that they got in through the sliding back window. Anyway, I just bought like a very thin metal rod and will have it cut, which i will use a dowel to keep the window from being opened. I figure this is a good idea and some cheap insurance and thought i would share.

One more thing. Can anyone recommend a good alarm system for me? Thanks

Werd. I haven't read a good "kill" story in a while.

Sorry about your truck bro.

when my truck was broken into, there were fresh prints all over the passenger side door, and i had washed it that day. definately from the perp., but the cops wouldn't do anything because it was just a stolen radio, and the prints were on the outside of the truck. plus it would have taken 4 hours for the crime scene investigation team to show up. it was 3 am on a sunday morning at this point.

Thanks for the advice on the alarm systems. One more thing. They cut the battery cables i guess to disable the alarm. I was wondering if there was anyway to run the alarm off of a seperate battery and kind of hide the wire so the alarm cannot be cut. Thanks.

I have a Viper 791 and I believe DEI makes backup batteries, not sure though.

Hey T Man,
Sorry to hear about that.
I went with the Viper 791 system and I also bought the glass sensor, proximity sensor,a tilt sensor, and a battery back up for the system. I got it all off Ebay...brand new and for decent prices. If you want the name just let me know.

Sure can. One other suggestion. Get a hood lock also. Talk to your local DEI dealer for more information. Good luck.

Here's to all thieving punks gettig theirs in the end.

When my truck was broken into they cut the horn wires which are located in the passenger wheel well. (Mine is a factory alarm with the code alarm upgrade) Because the horn was cut, no sound. They left prematurely though without taking anything when they looked up at my garage and saw a camera looking directly at them...It pays to upgrade your home security too!

BTW the Police will typically only dust for prints if the theft amount constitutes a felony ....

The best rear window lock I found that I wanted to use is my power slider from C.R. Lawrance. Can't get in without a hammer.
