Unhappy Air? Check. Spark? Check. Fuel? Negatory. Truck won't start.

I get into the truck to go buy a burrito, and it turns over but won't start. I checked the fuel pump relays, they're ok, checked all my fuses, they're fine as well. Tried the resetting safety fuel pump cutoff switch, nothing. I tried unplugging the brain to my viper alarm, thinking maybe the brain went bad and thought I was trying to steal it, normally it starts/runs perfect with the alarm disabled, but this time nothing.

Any other thoughts? You can't hear the pumps prime when i turn the key.

the truck turns over just fine, theft light stays off while it cranks.

I also tried starting it in neutral, no beans.

The o/d off light was also on while it cranked, i can't remember right now if it always does that.

No fuel pressure, no start. For some reason your pump's aren't kicking in. Sorry, I don't know enough about the fuel system's to help you. I assume you have checked the relay already? I haven't heard much failure rate with the stock pumps. I did have my pump crap out on my 90' f-150 when it was hot, just switched to the other tank. We don't have that option with the L's though.
Best of luck,
Bryan

Anything is possible with an automobile. Do you have access to a scan tool, preferably a snap-on>??? Otherwise the you could try hot wiring the pump and see if it turns on. Have you tried jumping the relay>??? -Mat-

I replaced the relay with a new known good one to test it. I'll try jumping the relay tommorow, if anyone knows the pin-out for the fuel pump plug on the harness, i could figure out how to hot wire them to test.

Bummer Gadget

You say you hear the pumps, what year was known for the clamp loosening up and the hose spitting off the pump ???
We did my Pumps today amof and I got a L Fuel Pump 101 lesson
from Sal. He was showing me the improved clamp on mine (02), that use to fall off eariler years due to it being a POS clamp.

I have read post of this more that a couple of times.
Just a thought ?

Hope it's something simple

You have also checked the fuse under the hood also, correct? There's a yellow fuse in the underhood box that would disable the fuel pumps also.

Well, i unplugged the battery and let it sit for a half hour or so with the headlight switch on.

started right up, but the odometer reading didn't show up until about 10-15 seconds later, which i find kind of disturbing.

I know a "----------" means dead pcm, but what would the mileage taking so long to display mean? could the cluster be on the way out?

edit: NONE of the gauges do anything until about 5-10 seconds after it starts. Cluster on it's way out?

Sounds freaky man. Since clearing the battery helped I'd have to assume it's something with the PCM. Did you reseat your chip?
