Testing the posi unit? Should the tires turn when jacked up?

My 04 can be jacked up and with some force applied by hand I can overcome the posi unit and turn the wheel on either side. How much resistance should there be? Should I be able to overcome it at all? Someone please try theirs for me! Also I was accidentally in the dirt & grass today with one tire and pavement with the other and when I took off it spun one tire and then after 30 ft both tires. (Nitto drag Radials) Is this normal? 14k on the truck. Ive already changed the fluid and modifier once. Should I change it again after todays one wheel misshap?

I thought the rear was limited slip.. meaning one tire spins then the other kicks in.

Mine leaves 2 black marks everytime.

My truck sat for 3 years and the rear was all screwed up, I replaced the fluid and a few bottles of modifier (probably a little too much) and it's been MONEy ever since.

rearend

Mine has always left two marks on the street but today when one tire was in dirt (I didnt realize this) it started spinning one and then the other joined in. I just hope I didnt fry the clutches. Jack yours up and see if you can overcome the posi unit and turn the tire. How hard is it to do it?

New clutches cost about $80.00 and are pretty easy to install.

No biggy ... Burnouts have a tendency to tear up positraction.

Not with my 'o4 Lightning - they both turn the same direction when you rotate them with the rear-end jacked up.

Thats the same here. With a limited slip they turn in the same direction. With an open diff they turn in opposite directions when spun while in the air.

Leave it in park and check the resistance not in neutral or drive. Put it in park and jack up and see how hard it is to rotate the tire then and overcome the posi unit.
