Fair Price on a used L

What would be a good price for me to shoot for on a '03 or '04 L with less than 8,000 miles?

Mine's a little older but I bought a 02 in November with 9000 miles on it for 24K. I might have paid a little too much but it is my dream truck. True Blue rules!

I've been seeing them on autotrader.com for about $26-31K.
I also went to kbb.com and looked up the '03 and '04 L and the '04 L was worth a lot more than the '03.......I dunno.....

HAHA... you ready for this one... Buddy of mine just bought an 02' this past weekend (used) near Atlanta. The factory warrenty had just expired at the first of March so it was bought new a touch over 3 years ago. He payed $24,000 for it. Seems ok to me...so then I asked how many miles were on it...to which he replied 300 and something!!! Less than 400 miles on a truck that was 3 years old. Inside of the truck still smells as new now as the day it was bought new. Woman he bought it from kept it inside and parked on carpet and the passenger seat had never been sat it. Talk about a lucky person.

With all the above talk about the '02s I went looking around. I ran across several that had less than 10K miles. Is '02 a "bad year"? Which year is preferred.......2002, 2003 or 2004?

No, they are not a bad year; however, if you do a search you will see that prior to 2003 many of the trucks had issues regarding spark plugs. Ford only put 3 or 4 spark plug threads in the heads and loose plugs were shooting out. In 03 & 04 they had updated heads with 8 threads per plug. If you do buy a 01-02 just be aware that you will have to keep an good eye on it and make sure the plugs stay tight. There was also an intercooler recall during 99-00 model years, make sure it was done if you're looking to purchase one of those. Check out this link:

All the questions you may want to know, good luck.
