Will a bad Throttle PositionSensor cause the line pressure in the tranny to increase?
Will a bad Throttle PositionSensor cause the line pressure in the tranny to increase?
I posted about the tranny shifting too high and very very hard. I have read that a bad MAF can cause the tranny to go into failure mode and increase line pressure but will it do the same for a bad TPS?
I had a Service Engine soon light and just now used a code reader and the code was P0122 (Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch A circut Low Input). Can this be the root of my tranny problems? Will a bad TPS default the tranny to failure mode increasing the line pressure? I had the Throttle Body sand blasted and I have a hunch they did not remove the TPS and thats why it is bad.
The TPS is a major sensor for tranny shifts for sure so I hope one of the fale safes of a bad TPS is increased line pressure.
Thanks for any input.

LOL, I just heard back from Sal and his response to my question was..
"Hell Yeah"
LOL So I will replace the TPS and am sure this will cure my tranny problem.
I just wanted to publicly thank Sal at PSP for working with me on this and providing suggestions and assistance! It is great to have people who are truly enthusiasts and take that extra effort to help you out of the goodness of their heart!

Maybe the throttle body got dropped or bumped while it was off. Glad to see you're headed in the right direction.

Its nice ot have a board liek this to fall back on with questions and problems. It feels like the when I was a NewB to this site all opver again.
Can you put it on a scanner and read the voltages coming out of it? I would also checks its plugged up correctly making sure that none of the pins are bent and your getting a good connection.
The motorcarft # for the TPS is DY967 and its about $30.00, I got mine from O'reilly's.

I had basically the same thing go wrong while I was driving. All of a sudden I get a check engine light. Long story short is that the little plastic tab that holds the spring in the tps broke and everything went crazy. Truck would idle fine but as soon as you stepped on the peddle it was like the truck was running on 5 cylinders - scary s**t for a $25.00 part!

So I went out to hook up a volt meter to the TPS right before heading to the Ford dealer for a new TPS. The Volt meter showed nothing (0V). So I unplug it and then plug it back in and now I get 0.99 volts at idle and 4.68 at WOT. Thats normal so I was like hmmmmmm.
So I took it for a drive and guess what. Drives perfect. There must have been a bad connection or dirt or something. I took the connector off again and cleaned the connection good and plug it back in and another long test drive and she is PERFECT!
So no need to spend the money
The motor runs smooth as silk and the KenneBell is music to me ears.
Knock on wood.
