Question for anyone using the SCT Excalibrator.

When you hook it up to your desktop computer and plug it into the wall does the power light or any other light come on on the excalibrator?

Thanks

Do the lights come one when you plug it into your truck? Might be a bad cable. Somethings not right!!! Get with the vendor you purchased it from!!!

Yup when I plug it into the truck the lights seemto work just fine.

The funny thing is when I upload my stock program onto the truck it seems to idle and drive exactly like when the custon tune is uploaded onto the truck. And from what I understand this should not be the case since I am running 60 lb/hr injectors. From what I heard the truck should idle very rough if it idles at all with the stock tune and 60 lb/hr injectors.

Sounds to me like a bad cable or wall recepticle, if the lights work and it goes through the motions when up or downloading tunes from the truck then i would think the programmer would be ok??

you have the connector from your cable on the xcal upside down. it can and will fit that way if you dont pay attention to it.

I have one question..

When I first upladed program 1 onto the truck the lights indicated the flow of data from the truck to the Xcalibrator (stock tune being uploaded to the Xcalibrator) and then the lights change to indicate the flow of data from the Xcalibrator to the truck (Uploading the new custom tune).

My question is when you go back to put the stock factory program on the truck will the lights indicate the flow of data from the truck to the Xcalibrator again? Or just from the Xcalibrator to the truck.

Likewise, when you go back to put program 1 back onto the truck after you reinstalled the factory tune will the lights show the flow of data from the truck to the Xcalibrator and then from the xcalibrator to the truck or will it just show flow from the Xcalibrator to the truck?

Hope that wasnt too confusing.

Mine only fits one way. Just like any other serial port connection.

No you can't, atleast not on mine!!! it is in the shape of a triangle with the top point cut off so NO you can not connect it upside down!!!

Yes i understood you, it should always flow from the truck to the xcal then back to the truck. make sure u upload your tune from your truck before you download another off the computer if that isn't to confusing!!

Hmm this makes me even more confused.

The first time I uploaded the custom tune to the truck it showed data flowing fromt he truck to the SCT and then from the SCT to the truck. But when I put the stock tune back onto the truck the lights on the SCT only show data flowing from the SCT to the truck.

Also after I reupload the stock tune and then go to reupload the custon tune again the lights only show data flowing form the Xcalibrator to the truck.

I could be wrong as i've only had the SCT a few weeks and have only upload two different tunes so i'm not the expert. Maybe someone more informed can correct me. Just tryin to help you out with what i remember. Who did you get your SCT from?

Sal at PSP. He has contacted me one with some things he wants me to checkout in terms of my shifting problems but nothing in terms of the SCT questions I now. But that is not his fault as I didnt know what questions to ask him since the SCT is new to me. Now that I have a btter idea of how things should work I will contact him with these issues/questions.

Did you even check to see if it will fit upside down?

If the units power light isnt coming on when hooked up to the cable from your laptop, there are only two things that could be wrong, the unit is bad or the cable is plugged in upside down. The cable from SCT is not as "cut" at the corners as a normal serial cable and can be made to fit upside down.

Seriously, go check and see if it fits that way and you may find your problem without overthinking whats wrong.

well there is three rows of pins and they are offset so if you do manage to get the housing/guide whatever to go in upside down the pins won't line up!!!

Sal will be the man to know whats going on. But as mentioned before, go over all the details, make sure its pluged in good, the recepticle works etc............ let us know what happens.
