Is there a general consensus on the EGR Blockoff??

I would like to do the EGR blockoff but I have heard both good and bad............ Any new news?

Also, does any vendor sell these, or do you have to get them made?

It's not just a "blockoff." There is NO gain to be had, but maybe a slightly cooler upper intake. I did it for looks, and ease of spark plug changes. I removed the EGR tube, valve, and all related sensors. I tied back all the wiring as well.

You can have the EGR nonsense turned off in your tune. I did.

The only thing left is to have a blockoff plate made. I want something simple, but can't find anything that doesn't cost $35 for just a simple piece of aluminum drilled and cut to shape

You care about MPG in a 400HP truck?? Ford makes another vehicle for that purpose - the Focus ;-)

I will say I know of a member who's been chasing a part throttle ping forever, and he just had a dyno guy manually add vacuum to his egr valve while holding the truck in this ping area and it immediate disappeared. He had not eliminated the egr, but his valve was not opening when it should. He had the timing in that area down to about 2 degrees and it still pinged until they forced the egr to open. Some people will have a problem with this when eliminating the egr, and others won't. Just a thought to consider. I know a couple tuners who've verified this also, but many don't seem to get the light throttle ping while others do.
