5.6" I/C fans vs 6.5" fans?

Looking at this site: Spal fans

It appears that the 5.6" fans flow 91% the CFM as the 6.5" fans, but yet use 40% the amperage to do it.

So.. why are the 6.5" fans so popular? There is plenty of room for the longer 5.6" fans too. What gives?

I went scrounging around the electronics store on Saturday trying to come up with an alternative to the Spal fans - they're just too darn expensive!

Rich,

You are trying to split hairs. Pulling 13 amps for BOTH fans is nothing to worry about. I know it is more than double the smaller fans but still negligible.

If it makes you happy then snag the 5" fans.

I was trying to consider how much they would run the battery down as it's parked in between rounds. Between those 2 fans, the I/C pump, and my dual flex-a-lites I'd think it could be a factor after 15 minutes or so?

But then again I'm pretty ignorant about electrical stuff. :o

btw: I did snag them. and have a friend that's a EE helping me set everything up before our April event.

On the stock battery I could run my IC fans, IC pump and e-fan for 10-15 minutes between rounds. Truck cooled down pretty quick. Probably would have been nice to leave them on for 30 minutes or so in the summer.

I guess I gotta look at the "amp hours" to make a educated guess? Right?
