to stroke or not to stroke

What do you guys think? Is the stoker rebuild kit (SHM) worth $3k more than a regular rebuild kit (Like JDM's). What kinda performance increase would I see with the stroker kit over JDM's. Also what would you think about a 386ci L?

"Stroker assembly increases stroke to 4.5 inches. When combined with our aluminum race block and the large bore, can increase displacement to a whopping 386 cubic inches. Billet steel crankshaft, Manley billet rods, forged pistons, Moly rings, Federal Mogul bearings all included. Will support up to 1200 hp @ 8000 rpm."-SHM

im impressed that you could stroke it to 386 ci and still be able to spin 8k at 1200hp. i would say that is substantially more strong and costly than other stroker kits. i think it will be worth it if you want to drop the cash for a serious race block. SHM is notoriously expensive too.

I would'nt try it on a stock production cast iron 5.4L block. Even with a girdle.
