Unhappy My L is running bad, again.

Ever since Sunday, my truck has been running like crap. I think its a miss, but it doesn't do it all the time. If Im crusing down the road I can fell it in the truck and hear the exhaust pop. But, if I give it more throttle, it goes away. It does it while it idles and crusing. The plugs were pulled and they looked good as were the coil packs. The fuel filter was changed about 4-5K miles ago. Whats going on here? What else should I check. This problem started after I floored it to catch up with traffic while getting on the interstate. I looked down at the Autometer boost guage and it was sitting on 17# of boost. What could have happened?

Big Man, if you pulled the plugs, you should have just put new ones in. I would also double check each and every coil for cracks or signs of arcing.

If I recall correctly, Rob02, said when his engine was torn apart the headgasket was bad and showed signs of leakage. His truck still ran great (except for the brake issue)

You read correctly. It was 40 degrees so that may have helped.

Anytime, warm or cold at any speed. But more noticable at around 40-45mph. But only at part throttle, if I give it more it goes away.

Change the plugs.... They can "LOOK" fine but be messed up on the inside....

You probably have cracked one or fried one....

I'd change the plugs as a first step. Coil packs 2nd.

btw: Blown93 & Big Man I too have seen 17 psi with my 4# lower and a Apten ported eaton. Twice now! Most little drives in this ice cold (or below ice cold) weather I see 16# as a rule of thumb. Drops to 13-14 after the 2-3 shift.

B man: I'd change the filter filter again. On my 03 L I just changed it about 3 thousand miles ago, truck sat for about a month, went out to fire it up, and it ran on like 4 cylinders. I was about ready to took her in for service to check why it was not running on all 8 cylinders, but first I change the fuel filter, guess what, the filter WAS clogged up so bad that it would not let it get enough fuel to even run at idle. So change the filter anyway, you do have over 4 grand on that filter. Won't hurt to see if that helps the problem.

Just my 2cents.

I'll try that. But the weird thing is that I went ahead and put new plugs in. That took care of it alittle. I no longer feel the miss while driving the truck, but I still hear alittle poping from the exhuast while coasting and idleing. I found that the very back plug on the passenger side of the engine showed signs that there was water in there. The plug next to it had oil on the threads.
