Cool Blower belt advice needed...

I want to change my lower pulley from a 4lb. to a 6 lb. unit. (Metco)

My upper pulley is a stock Eaton.

I do have the newer style Metco auxiliary idler kit, which the instructions say to use a belt 1" longer than before the kit.

I don't want to break the tab off the tensioner, I would prefer to have the correct length belt instead.

So, with all of that said, what length belt should I buy?

Thanks for any advice...

From memory a 6lb uses a 68" belt so with the idler kit you probably need a 69" or so. 4080690 try that to start.

Cool

Thanks for the reply.

I looked and I have a 68.5" Gatorback on the truck now... I wonder why such a long belt for just a 4 lb. lower ??

That is what was shipped with the original Metco, from one of our supporting vendors ??

Cool

Art -

Thanks for looking at it for me... The 6 lb. pulley is on the way !!

jboss10 -

Why would you break the tab (or anything else for that matter) when all you have to do is get the right length belt ?

Ford designed the blower drive system (with input from Eaton, I'm sure) to apply a certain amount of pressure on the bearings in the blower, idlers, etc. Why alter that to save $40 ??
