Who was your tuner? Did you have an upgraded MAF?

...how risky would it be stepping up to a 8lb lower

I have a four pound pound lower and have seen 20+ pounds of boost.
I have seen JohnFastruk's 6 pounder push over 22 pounds.

The question is: "How much is too much?"

Does being near sea level affect boost? I've never seen anything close to those numbers with similar setups in the midwest at 600ft+ sea level.

Altitude, Barometer, Temperature ALL affect boost.

Use whatever pulley you need to get the desired boost level.
