I'm doing the same thing this week pulling my Sean Hyland , (built ) Piece of crap motor and reinstalling the stock motor. It looks cold there ,NJ , nice 72 degrees here and working in shorts.

How has your experience been with Sean Hyland? I thought he was a good builder. In fact, I was thinking of ordering an engine from him.

I bought a long block with ported heads and cams, upon first fire up the it ran for 20 seconds and broke the keys out of the keyway of the cams, had it towed to my mech 55 miles away, i had stock cams installed, checked compression for bent valves, everything was fine, Ii fired up and ran , drove it home 55 miles next morning started it and it had a knock in it that never went away. Sounds like a diesel. Traced it down to 2 cylinders by unpluging the injectors, either loose wrist pins , or piston slap because of the possibilty they used centered wrist pin pistons ,that are not offset 50 thousands like stock. Won't know till i get it apart. Also oil started leaking into the coolant after a few hundred miles. Motor runs strong ,sounds like crap. Looked into legal action but them being in Canada is alot of extra red tape, just cheaper to fix it myself. Thank god i kept the 9000 mile stock motor. If there is one thing i can do, is give my expeirence about SHM to others and hopefully they won't make the same mistake as me, go with one of the big 3 builders.
