Question ? for the MP crowd

Been thinking of getting an MP instead of a KB. My quesion is do you recomend changing the MAF, injectors and fuel pumps? I am only planing on running 15# or so of boost. I have a ported blower right now will I see a big difference with the MP even though I want to run the same boost? I was reading an artical on the MP on Lightningrodder.com and they were saying the MP has to be spun hard. So at 15# will it be worth it? Sorry guys if these are stupid question but just want to know. Also can you guys tell me if the MP GP is still on?
Thanks alot

I would say yes for the injectors and pumps. You can never be to safe. As for the MAF, you could upgrade to an SCT or get the MAF extender. I have the SCT meter and am not even close to pegging it. If you are only running 15psi, it would be best to stay with the ported eaton or a KB. I ran mine with that psi and had 500rwhp. Some have spun the eaton harder for bigger power numbers. I switched to the MP inorder to spin it harder and get rid of the nitrous kit I have. I don't think the GP for the MP is still in affect. Good luck

if you get a magnum, you got to spin it.

i have spun mine with a 8lb lower and a 2.7 upper

i have 100's of passes with that combo.

the motor was in perfect shape when i removed it.

the rod bearings were perfect.

the best DA i ran in was 1450' above sea level and i ran 12.007

imho the magnum is the best blower for a stock block.

I wasnt impressed with 17lbs (2.7up 8.5"low)...but im told if i had spun it harder i would have felt the results.

The Magnum is good enough to push you into the 10's, at half the price of a KB. If thats your goal.

I would call Sal and ask about the GP

I considered both, and although it's true the Twin-Screw will give you more at low Boost, I still think you can't beat this Roots style S/C for Reliability Looks and Performance. Never mind the fact it's 1/2 the price AND THERE IS NO DOUBT, THE SOUND IS SECOND TO NONE, AND WORTH EVERY PENNY

What's better is YOU CAN get as much out of it later with boost (if you ever go built motor). Gator will have well over 600 HP all motor running the Magnum Powers Boosted Up with stage 3 cams and patriot heads. I'll be tuning mine @ 615-625HP
on Spray, and @ 500 for 24/7 Street Driving, stock heads and cams.

And as for Stock Blocks, here's a quote from a story I did on Fred Decker

Power is now up to 501/591 @ 21 psi of manifold pressure using a four-pound Metco lower. ET is down to 11.5@116 making this the fastest Magnum Powers equipped stock long block. When someone runs their M-P Stocker faster, and I know they will, I guess I’ll have to pulley up and go after them. Hehehe.

Your already Ported so it makes the choice a little harder I know,
but for those that are going to spend $600.00 or more to Port, I think the Magnum Powers is a much smarter purchase, and not all that much more considering.

Did I mention, IT LOOKS AWESOME UNDER THE HOOD TOO
WOO HOO................

So if I'm not spinning it hard its not worth getting??? I probably will be doing my block within the year so after that I wouldnt mind upping the boost. If I do get the MP, injectors and pumps what kind of boost could I safely run on the stock SB?
BTW: Rob I seen the article about your truck on lightningrodder.com that thing is bad a$$

the track i run at is known for very poor track prep.

i have to heat the livin snot out of those hoosiers.

sometimes i even hot lap 5 or 6 times in a row, just to get a good 60' time

everyone always ask what boost can i run "safely"

the technical answer would have to be 0.

20 lbs of boost from a magnum is not the same as 20 lbs of boost from any other blower.

however, if money is no object then a KB is the way to go.

but for the money you can save by going with a magnum you could buy a full exhaust

Look at it this way.............

21 lbs of boost is 21lbs of boost, no matter how you cut it.

The difference is how fast/hard the motor reaches that total boost.
Think of an open door...........
Slaming the door wide open, or swinging the door wide open. See the difference it would make on the surrounding door frame?

I ran 21lbs on a stock long block for many miles. It was dyno tuned and I refrain from those 55mph kickdown. Now with the ported heads and same pulley combo, Iam running 18 lbs boost. But I know how to fix that problem

**EDIT**
Oh yeah, that Lightningrodder Low Budget Beast will be getting its *** handed to him (April 16 @ SSOTN Spring Nationals) by the F150online Lower Budget Beast Slayer if he shows up

I'm a HUGE Magnum powers fan, however the KB is a better blower.
Remember it's not peak HP that counts it is the Space UNDER the curve! if the KB produces more power at lower RPM's then it will have more space under the curve.

With that being said. The Most bang for the buck award goes to MP.

Imgoing to wait for next weeks dyno to praise my MP.
My JDM long block with MP and 8# lower and 2.7 upper is only seeing 16 psi I have a 10# lower coming hope to see better numbers. At this point Im thinking that I should of just bought the KB....since the whipples are 2 weeks away.
I love its sound and it feels strong. next week will tell!!
