I beat tampa to making something out of fiberglass? HOLY CRAP!

I used the tutorial in the first link Herb101 posted as my guide to making this, Its my first ever attempt.

The smell is noxious and you should wear a mask while doing it, it doesn't get into everything too bad since most of the cab was covered while i worked, but in a couple weeks it should all go away.

It's not very difficult but it is messy, wear gloves and clothes you don't mind throwing away. Buying some of those really cheap cveralls from home depot might be a good call.

Cost depends on where you buy stuff, I got two gallons of resin at home depot for 24.99 each, and 4 bags of matting for 5 bucks a pop. Now that it's popped out and I have to make the MDF sections of it for the subwoofer rings and the amp rack, I'm gonna take a little more time to find somewhere i can get more resin and matting for less, although that might require a drive to orlando or jacksonville.

matias,
give me a shout and I can help you out. The blackness is definitely a "hot mix". Hell, when I was doing my system in the Explorer, it "kicked" so hard I had to put a hose on it to keep it from catching on fire. Are you using string mat or weave for the glass? Here was my last project..
the L is next month...

I'm using a mat for it. I have the mold of the back wall popped out of the truck now, i'm gonna add a few more layers to it and then start planning out the front. I could definitely use your help making the subwoofer rings and the amp rack out of MDF, since I have no woodworking tools here, and setting up the fleecing to make the frontend come out nice.

router, tablesaw, maybe a jigsaw? If either of you guys has a sawzall or an angle grinder i gotta trim the excess fiberglass too. I won't be needing any of that for a couple weeks though, next weekend i want to finish laying up 'glass on my mold of the floor and backwall and trim that to size, after that comes the fun part of building the frontend.
