Whats the general consensus on Lightnings

I know we L owners know what these trucks are capable of, but im just curious what the average car buff thinks about our trucks. I wonder if people think of us as a bad azz machine or do they not even associate us with being a "sport car" at all and think of us as a quick truck.

The main reason I ask is because on Saturday I was on my way home from work on Cooper st. and a Camero SS pulls up beside me (later only admited to the Long tube headers)... this thing looked sweet, had HUGE, i mean HUGELY wide tires in the rear and alot skinner up front, was lowered, and sounded mean!!! anyway, it was a pretty day, both us had our windows down and we got up beside each other and Ill admit, i was wanting to play... i gave it a little gas and let him hear the SC wine and i swear, he looked over at me and gave me this smerk and basically laughed at me.... kinda like the feeling we get when a dodge neon or civic or something does the same thing.... he wouldnt budge... anyway, a few mins later we got on 287 and he was in front of me at the light, light turned green and we got on 287.... so I was behind him... i wanted to pull up beside him, but wasnt able to... anyway, we got in left lane and he finally decided to punch it... i immediately got on it as soon as I saw he did, but i had disadvantage because he went first, and I was behind anyway... we went at it until about 100+ and we got off... he never walked me, and I never really caught up... i just stayed planted in his bumper... we then exited and he we pulled up and talked for a second... he said something like, wow, im impressed... i coudlnt lose you, you stayed right there on my ***... he said all he had was the LT, but with the "look" of the car, i doubt it...

anyway, i think this guy was actually shocked that i hung with him, so im just curious what the average person thinks of our trucks....

I think a lot of people who "know" about L's give them respect. Most of it comes due to the fact that they are very easy to mod.

I personaly hope no one knows about L's or even that they do not take L's seriously. It makes walking them all that much better

Considering that I've been to Ford parts counters and had employees say things like "Lightning, that's a performance F-150, right?" or "nice truck, did you do that yourself?" then I gather the L is still unknown to the masses. Always nice to introduce folks to it though

In my experience... most "car guys" knows it has a supercharger. But don't know just how stout they are with just a few bolt ons.

Others seem to think it looks nice.

A friend just bought an Acura NSX. We swapped vehicles over the weekend, he's now a believer and said the Lightning was way more fun than his car. You should have seen his grin when the exhaust blaat with the windows down. I enjoyed his NSX too, it certainly attracted a lot of attention wherever we went.

Not many really know about them. I'm a car/truck guy and can't wait to get one at the end of the year!

Most people I encounter, either know whats up, and respect the L, and in most cases wont mess with me too much, or they have no clue.

In my 3yrs of having my truck I have yet to go to and auto parts store that even knows what a SVT Lightning is. They have tried to give me a wrong part numerouse times.

None of my friends or family knew what it was. The kids seem to
know and they are usually the ones in the rice mobiles or mustang and they know better. Well, except for one mustang, that absolutely kicked my butt.

most people dont know what it is, like 75 percent of people i talk to. Then the others give me a lot of ***** about it, but thats cause they are jealous that i have a nicer car then them lol. Everyone always wants to compare it to an M3, oh it handles so much better blah blah blah, if i wanted and M3 i would have bought one shesh.

Most people around here don't really know what it is, but they do notice it. Hard to fly under the radar when you're bright red, lowered and have that rumbling Basanni exhaust.

Been there, done that. AutoZone, Advanced, even a NAPA store nearby.

One guy tried to tell me there was no such thing as SVT at Ford, that it was called SHO. I just finally gave up and walked out.
