Ya, it amazes me that not that people don't know what it is...but when you tell them...they don't understand. Mechanics will look right at the blower and say, dayum, that things got a turbo, huh? Now, I'm an engineer, I work on 20-40,000hp diesels, and even the people I work with don't understand. They understand looking at a turbo that is 6feet in diameter, and an intercooler the size of our trucks, but when I showed them my new fluidyne...they all said "whats that do" God I need a new job.


As for the parts store...I've almost got in fights with people. Some people swear that it is the nascar truck. It gets old.

 

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that my friend kept telling me how "nice" my L was. I told him it's just a pumped up F150 with very basic trim and cabin appointments, but he would hear none of it and actually complimented the interior design (wtf?!!). He was surprised to hear how inexpensive it was too--he figured they cost way more. It all evens out at the gas pump though, he gets 25 mpg.

And when he got out of the truck, he muttered "you know this is a very practical vehicle." Riiiiiiiight!

 

Most people around here have no clue. Just another truck. I have met a few who think they know what it is but are very misinformed. The ones who know though usually have nothing but respect and compliments. Then there will always be the haters who hate it no matter what you drive.

last time I told someone I had a F-150 Lightning the first question they asked me was "Is it jacked up?" ...man I need to get out of Indiana.

I actually had someone ask me if I do any off-roading in it? The kicker is we were right beside the damn truck. I looked at the truck, looked at him and just shook my head.

 

I just installed new fiberglass leafs last Friday at work and my maintenance manager came in with a contractor and said,"Wow nice looking truck, who's is it?" I told him it was mine and he said,"Who makes it?? Then looks at the front and say's Ford... Lightning?"
I told him about the supercharger and such, he asked if it was fast. I told him it was pretty quick. Then he say's to the contractor, "You got one of the dodge trucks?? They're pretty quick aren't they?? The Contractor say's yeah it's pretty fast, I can smoke the wheels easy!!"
I didn't even bother with an argument, funny how people are still brainwashed on the "HEMI"!!LOL.
My co-worker drives a hemi too, another brainwashed individual but I'm bringing him around slowly!! He's now looking for a T-bird supercharged coupe to race me with, he gave up on his Hemi and fast and furious 300zx.

I drove by my grandmothers house, and looked over and there was a new 04 Red Lightning.That's something that you just don't see, there aren't that many were I live. So I flew into the driveway to get a closer look, and to see who was driving it. So, come to find out my uncle from Ten. had just bought it. I started asking him about the truck and he didn't know nothing about the truck. He went to the dealer and said he was interested in a 2 wheel drive F-150, so the salesman tells him I have just what you want. So to cut it short he bought it. He didn't even know what SVT was, or a Lightning. I asked him if he was going to do any thing to it, before he could answer my aunt say's heck no it's to fast now. I said there is no such thing as to fast. I didn't understand why in the world they bought a truck like the Lightning if they don't want a fast truck? I guess salesman will do anything to sell a truck. That makes me wonder how many people actually owns a Lightning and don't know absolutley nothing about them, or even know what they are?

 

Last month I was at the welding shop exchanging the tanks, when it came time to pay, I started to write a check and the guy looked uneasy, I figured that maybe he figured that the check was going to bounce!! I told him hey this check is good..
He turned around and looked at me and stated “anybody that uses a Lightning as a work truck, I'm sure this is a good check”

Once in a while I go get concrete sacks at lows, and every time when the helpers come out to load the truck (16 sacks at 80# each) ((Yea I know 1500lbs load)) all they do is talk about the truck, is it supercharged???

So I would say that most know about this truck…..
