superchips microtuner

Newbie here. I just wanted to get some chimes on my tuner issue. I have a 2003 L with CAI and am about to install 4# pulley Wednesday. I have a Superchips microtuner #1715. Should I stick with that or switch to another tuner or chip? WHat do you guys think?

The 1715 is decent at best. The 1715 removes the torque reduction and bumps line pressure slightly and that will kill your tranny over time. The pulley tune is very conservative and it probably won't hurt your motor but you can get more and safer horsepower with a custom tune from one of our supporting vendors.

I would suggest selling the 1715 and getting a custom tune on the Predator or SCT tuner, or better yet, a dyno tune.

Maybe a stupid question, but what is the difference between a 1715 and a SCT tuner?

Probably the best person to answer that question is Mike Troyer in the chips & programming section, or better yet try a search. You may be surprise what you come up with.

SCT and Predator accept custom tunes

1715 does not. If you do use the 1715, leave your line pressure set to stock.

I forgot to add, welcome to the board!

Considering I have read the board and nobody ever mentions the 1715, I am sure I need to get rid of it. My girlfriend got it and a Volant CAI for Christmas. She didn't know but I was very grateful for the thought. I wonder if I can send it back or if the dealer I received it from will upgrade it for more $ to a 9300? Thanks for the welcome!

Your best bet is to post this in the chips forum here.
SuperChips Distributor will be happy to answer all your questions. He will set you up without any problems.
Troyerperformance.com as well.....

Well you should be fine then, but you would probably make more power with a dyno tune

Wow. Great girlfriend! I wish my wife would do stuff like that for me. The Volant intake is a keeper!
