Nitto DR Launch

Hey Guys,

I'm heading to the strip friday and I was wondering if I could do hard launches with my DR's.

I've got a little over 500hp and a 2400 stall in around 45-55 degree weather

Please post if I can use them, and if so what tire pressure and stall speed I should use.

I don't have anywhere near your horspower and use Nitto's (usually 16psig) I think you would be better off with slicks. But heat the b-jesus out of them and you might be able to hook up.
Bryan
ps I have 387 rwhp and still can't mat it off the line.

you can launch as hard as you want with your hp, traction is the issue!
you definatley need slicks with that much power or your not using the trucks power to its full advantage but if your gonna run d/r's then have fun anyway - i had mine set around 22 to 25 psi if i remember correctly

I've set mine down to 22, and did a big burnout then stabed it about half then full and it hooked pretty good. Mid to low 1.7's That was on about 475HP, but a stock converter.

A friend of mine cut a 1.67 on Nitto's with a little over 500hp. It's all about track prep, having the suspension right, and driver. I hope to do about the same as he did soon.

I use the dr's on the street but my truck with just a 4lb lower can't hook up with them at all.

The stall is killing you, not the hp.

I make about 560 or so torque to the wheels and I'm running F1's.

I go fairly consistant 1.79s-mid 1.8s. But with a stall I would say leave about idle and roll into it as possible.

When I ran Nittos I got a best of 1.58 @ 14lbs of air. Stall at 2000 RPM and roll into it.......don't floor it just roll into it. Now make sure you burn them hard.....when you think you have burned them long enough...stay on it a bit longer. Also ran low 11s..........

That's what you gotta do. I have never tried mine at 14psi, but 20 was working good for me. A good long burnout, and I stabbed it from idle to about 1/3 felt it hook good and then rolled th rest of the way into the throttle.

Just gotta remember; Nitto's love heat!
