the rear will sway more due to the super-long shackles flexing.

By realigning your sway bar won't that fix the problem?

I e-mailed JL and asked if it was true the rear would sway more. He said it wasn't true at all. I know he wants to sell the product too, but I don't how reputable he is? It doesn't seem worth lying about though. (Just my opinion)

4" rear shackles will not increase the "sway" or Body roll of the truck.

however, due to their length, they will increase the side to side movement of the rear axle independent of the frame. because they lengthen the axle's lever arm on the rear leaf mount on the frame, for the same amount of force it will move sideways more under the truck. This is encountered in cornering situations.

Just FYI... these shackles will not drop you 4".
You will see a 2 7/8" drop... so really not much more than a regular 2" lowering shackle. I have noticed no ill effects in handling with this JLP shackle. My truck has these in the back and the Bell Tech 4804 coils up front.

there is no way a 4" shackle would rop you the same a a 2". the measurement is the lenght of the shackle and not the actual measured drop, that part is true.

i have the jlp 3" shackles. i am happy with how the truck looks and drives, except when i sling it into a corner and try to come out of it hard. i can feel the rear sway over. i noticed this immidately after i installed them. it is not body roll, as was said previosly, i think it is the rear end moving to the side. i want to go with a panhard bar to control this.

with that said, other than the effects on handling in a hard driving scenario with nothing to help control side to side movement of the rear, i don't think it is really that bad of a mod. you just need to know the positives and negatives going into it.

i as well have the JLP 4" shackles.. the only thing that worried me is how close the shackle is to the bed... if i was to load the bed with too much weight, is it possible for the shackle to push its way through the bed? i barely have a finger's width left.. thx

the bed shouldn't move with respect to the frame. both the shackle and bed are mounted solidly to the frame. i wouldn't worry about it as long as with the shackles straight up doesn't hit the bed, it shouldn't ever hit.
