Corvette forums and the Lightning....
I agree that the math is a bit fuzzy. I just got a kick out of some of the posts there. I have been (as I'm sure we all have been) witness to many things at the track that cannot be determined by HP/Torque numbers and bench racing-there are no numbers to plug on the calculator for things like track conditions, wheel spin, sleeping at the tree, etc. The saying, "that's why they play the game" sums it up nicely.
I dont question the C-6 as being one of the finest sports cars, however I do question the ignorance of the C-6 forum posters who know little of their competition's capabilities.

to konig...your lightning is looking tight those wheels are my favorite and my brother is checking out some for his 2000 black lightning to sharpen things up he found a set for 900 some bucks at the lowest so far...you have any suggestions to where we could get some cheaper or where did u get yours?? thanx
Also them vette forums are kinda humorous and well i dont have that much time to read ALL of that stuff but i know for a fact whoever it was that thought a c 6 (stock) could beat a 600 hp lightning is on the crack pipe becauses my brother's friends has a nine thousand dollar johnney lightning motor with a kenne bell blower putting out 14 ibs of boost at the least is running easy 11's with street tires and easy 10's with slicks....now i dont remember a stock c 6 ever running those numbers out of the shrink wrap! lol o welll its just a lot of fun to chat about stuff like this
lata guys

But it is true, that most vette owners have no idea that a pick up truck could out run them. And occasionally when it does happen, the look on their faces is ..........PRICELESS
Appreciate some help. I started a new section on my forum for special interest performance cars and SVT's. Some guys have questions about the Lightning....maybe you can help out here. I started this section, so all performance car and truck owners can get a chance to compare performance on a Corvette forum. I was thinking of replying to them myself, but I felt it's better coming from other members than the administrator. Here's the link.http://www.fatherlarryscorvetteshop....?threadid=1558
Thanks guys....will appreciate it.

I am a past vette owner and still like them. What the vette guy failed to realize when doing his math is that our 500 - 600 hp numbers are rwhp, not the flywheel numbers he is using for the vette. Also our torque curves are table top flat, not a steep bell curve like the vette. Its area under the curve and rear wheel hp vs flywheel hp.

hey skank dog, I am from Lindale, but i currently go to school in college station. do you know a lot of people with L's in tyler? I know a few people in Lindale with them, and another guy (svtPete) in Kilgore.
I have a modded convertable Vette (413rwhp sae) and a modded L (450rwhp sae), and with both on street tires the Vette will aniallate the L. Thankfully, I don't race the L on street tires. On slicks the L will leave most Vettes looking at taillights. For some reason most Vettes are left stock
On the street, which would I rather drive? Depends on the day, and the amount of sunshine!
I will say the Vette crowd is a little more reserved

IMHO, most L's that make 0-60mph power to beat a Vette will have traction issues from a standing start... with radial tires.
