Electric Fans How Much Advantage Over Stock Fan
" They are a lot of aftermarket electric cooling fans out there today what is the advantage mabey 10 horsepower over heavy stock fan. "Has anyone had any problems with electric fans cooling down our lightnings in heavy traffic ?? thanks for you input

I have a home built efan, and in 75 degree weather, the t-stat was just over 180 in town. You never really have a problem at highway speeds, since you are moving air over your radiator faster than the fan can.
Thats a good question. How much, I don't know, but after having the stock fan assembly in my hand, I know its got to help getting that heavy rotating mass off the front of the engine.
Here in Jersey during the summer months 85-95 degree days in stop and go traffic, I have never had a problem. On my trip to Florida, no problems at all, and I even pulled a 12' trailer at speed, 65-80mph, back to Jersey with no problems

I dont have a lightning but I bought the E-fan kit from LFP which was made for the lightning and I have had no problems in up to 80* weather so far. It does have a manual overide you can mount in the cab if you are stuck in traffic that will kick the fan on high and really moves some air. Real quality kit, all Ford parts. I would buy it again if I had to do it over.

What would be the downside? The lighter fan would spin faster if nothing else. Its not like your going to throw off the engine RPMs...if that were true you wouldnt be able to remove it totally for an electric kit.

At redline, a lighter fan could acually cause a tear in the time-space continuum, which could cause the driver to be transported to a parallel universe. Not a good thing.

HI!... Well I'm running two DERALE 16" electric fans now for over 6 years. No problems here. There has been guys here on this site and a documented case over at FORD TRUCK WORLD that have gained 17-19RWH.P with the addition of a electric fan over the stock heavy clutch fan. These were on N/A F-150's though. I prefer the dual fan set up over those pieced together croen vic factory shroud set-ups. At least you have two fans so if one pukes you still have the other one to get you home. Plus you have a TON more open sapce in the engine compartment with the duals. IMO.

"SEVERAL LIGHTNING FRIENDS HAVE ADVISED STAY FROM ELECTRIC FANS
"Several lightning friends have advised stay away from electric fans to much trouble with engine running hot and air condition not work correctly in summer time Some say no horsepower gains ??? thanks

At those rpms something built "lighter" can distort and then fly off. In the US believe it or not we have about 20 people get killed from this every year.
And it's a catch 22 too. Notice that I had designed your pump with a nodular iron housing. And then the bearing has to be twice the size as a regular 5.4L just to take this huge load should an imbalance occur. This is all to support that big ole fan sticking out that far and spinning 7500rpms. (your pump spins 1.3 times faster than the crank)
99% of lighting guys will never put these things through the cooling needs that I designed it too. Just switch to e-fans and free up a few ponies along with loosing some weight.
