First mod for a stock L?
First mod for a stock L?
I am new to this and was wondering what the first mod, whether performance or looks would be. Keep in mind i only know what I have read on this site and I have not even driven my L. It should be here tomorrow.

Drop shackles lower the rear of the truck. Lots of Lightning owners don't like the fact that the rear end sits so much higher than the front, they drop it with shackles to even the gap out front to rear. These are easy to put on with a good 3 ton jack, some jackstands, and hand tools. It should be noted though that if you drop the rear too much you will need to adjust the pinion angle of your driveshaft to compensate and remove driveshaft vibrations that will popup.
The Valve Body is made by user Factory Tech and it's a reworked transmission part that gives you firmer shifts, lowers transmission temps, and extends the life of our transmissions.
I don't want to say where to buy them because I'm not sure who the board sponsers are yet and I don't want to step on any toes. Someone will link you to them in no time though, I'm sure.
I have to say though, I think the key first mods are a catback exhaust and a cold air intake. This truck needs to be heard, and those two parts will take care of that real easy. The catback for that great exhaust note and the cold air intake for letting the supercharger whine really let loose.

just go to one of the vendors websites, www.teamjdm.com for example... and scroll through their site and check out all the mods they have.... those are typically the most common ones....
but I would say majority of Ls out there are runnin with:
shackles, ftvb, chip, filter, pulley, cold air, exhaust

i would go with the air box for the very first mod if your talking about engine, otherwise shackles make the truck sit pretty well and they are cheap i recently just got a air box and thats easily 2#'s of boost

REM is in margate Fla and is a top notch shop.
Give Paul or Tim a call and tell them what your overall goal is. They'll get you set up.
If your undecided on this... go with a "4# lower pulley, chip, filter, and some rear shakles". None of these is to awfull hard to do your self and will very much WAKE UP the acceleration. No joke.. the differance over stock is amazing.
