What is the plastic box that sits behind the battery? Did a search but came up with zero!

 

According to popular legend, they are vacuum cannisters for the climate control system so that the cc can operate when the engine is off. WTF? At any rate, people have removed both of them (and the tangle of tubing) without any ill effects.
