Starting yesterday when I punch the gas quickly, not necessarily a WOT, the truck just shuts off. It wont start for about 1-2 minutes afterwards it just turns over and over. Then, after about 1-2min it will start right back up and everything seems fine.

I pulled the chip this am and secured it, cleaned the IAC and just went out. The truck feels perfect until I punch it and man it just dies, no warning, no burps, no noises it just shuts off. Again I had to wait about a minute before it would start.


Ideas?

Same thing happened to me. Ended up being an issue in the chip, one that I'd had for a while with no problems.

Next time it happens, cycle the key completely off then re-start; I'll bet it fires immediately. If I tried to re-start mine without turning the key completely off it wouldn't start.

sounds like a chip problem.

 

You know I really didn't think it would be chip related but....

I just did some testing with\without the chip and it seems to be chip related. Without the chip it didn't do it. I put the chip back in and it did it on the first punch.

My 01 did the same thing about 2 or 3 weeks ago. Took the chip out (after 2 years in there) cleaned the contacts and reinstalled with tape and it hasn't happened again.
