Ported Blower Questions???
Ported Blower Questions???
Well first off I wanted to know if the blower being ported will raise the boost any? So if I keep the same pulleys and swap to a ported, will i be making the same boost, but just more hp?
Also who sells port jobs, or has the best port job, well who is the best place to buy it from and about how much will it cost me?
Thank you, I really appreciate it guys!

I'll hopefully be putting on a 4lb lower, ported eaton, Dante valve body (Dante's Modular Performance), and some lakewood traction bars next week.
Stock truck......BUH BYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did not see any increase in boost that I felt I could really document after installing the ported Eaton. I was not surprised by that, since the porting does not change either the rotor speed or the volume of the blower. The big change is the drop in intake temperature which results from imrpoving the efficiency of the blower. If there was a change in the boost on my Lightning, it was less than two pounds. The decrease in outlet temp is about equivalent to going down a pulley size or two. That's why the first thing most people do is to increase the pulley size when they re-install the blower. To my observation, a ported Eaton with a 4# lower runs at about the same temp after the intercooler as a stock Eaton. There's just something kinda nice about adding 5# of boost. If you're going to port the blower, do the pulley. Your right foot will love you for it!
On my truck it went from 12lbs in warm weather to 13-13.5 and in cold weather it went from 13 to 15lbs this is with a 4lb lower. Im also making 16lbs now with a 1lb upper and the power dif between 15 and 16 is amazing i think it regained alot of the TQ it lost when staying with the same pulley combo
I have the Apten port w/a 4# lower. And oh my YES did I see an increase in boost!
It pretty much goes like this:
Boost is maybe 1/2# higher when you first go wot. Then as the rpms climb the boost keeps climbing as well. Where as it used to gain maybe another 1psi at best. On a 38 degree day I've seen it swing to 17psi. And in the summer heat I've seen it only muster 13psi. Normally in say 70 degree weather I'll see it go to 14-15ish.
BTW: The port alone dropped me 0.3ET and gave me a solid 2-3 mph. Warm day or cold days.. does'nt matter. I'm that much quicker.

Thanks guys! but also how many pounds can u actually push on the stock block with ported blower?

I'd say between 14 - 16 #'s with a very good tune. But there are guys running more boost on stock blocks out there.
Since we CA guys only have 91 octane gas, Sal from PSP is doing a pretty safe tune for me. Like I said before, I'll be running a 4lb lower with a Stiegemeier ported eaton.
Of course I'll also be taking the truck to a dyno fairly soon after installing everything (to be on the safe side). But my buddy has run several of Sal's tunes and they've been dead on. This man knows how to tune!
