Greetings from the UK
Having seen Andre's remarkable pictures from Germany, I felt motivated to post a photo' featuring a race between two Lightnings at Santa Pod Raceway in the small, leafy village of Poddington in Lincolnshire, England. The crowd were blown away by the sheer spectacle of these awesome trucks!
Unfortunately, I cannot get my picture to upload to the photo galleries. Would someone be able to post a picture for me? Can I e-mail it to someone?
Assuming that someone can post for me...
The black 2004 L (mine - purchased last August) was bone stock apart from some seriously weighty ICE, which will be removed when racing in the future, and the red L, which belongs to a fella I'd never met before, had an aftermarket intake and Borla cat-back.
Traction sucked (no track prep at all on 'Run What Ya Brung' days - and sand had been scattered after a big power RX7 had eaten its diff. on the line) and we were both first time L racers, though we both managed sub-14 second runs (not when racing each other though).
Having caught the drag bug in a big way, I've already ordered some JLP traction bars, 16"x10" AR rims and some Hoosiers. I'm not keen on a mail order chip (previous modified car experience has shown me the importance of a decent tune), so I'm planning on maximising everything else before I turn my attention to the motor. Even when I do touch it, I'll probably stick with a 2/3lb pulley and rely on the stock management to see me right (after I dyno check it first, of course).
It's a line-lock next!
Anyway, I thought I'd try to post the picture and say how decent it is to be part of such a large, broadly helpful community.

Well the initial comment is WOW - What is it
School kids always stop and point
Women look at it without but making they are not looking at it
Gas pump attendants love it
Older dudes - shake there heads
My dad said I was mad
My mother sees no point
The wife say "it is as mad as owning a pet elephant, but you have got to love it !!"
Generally it is a real beast of machine over here, with narrow roads and small parking slots in the mall's. it does not fit in mosy carparks, but whereever it is - every looks and points - Great stuff
Number one question - So what does it do the gallon ?-
PS - fuel is $8.00 a gallon over here - so think yourselves lucky in the US...
Dead right!
I get way more stares in this truck than I ever did in my last car (see pic attached - a 417rwhp rx7 - don't call rice on me - that thing ran mid 11 quarters and I had well over <cough>170<cough> out of her (on private roads, of course
)). Deadmic has the common reactions down to a 't'.
Women in the 17 to 25 age bracket tend to react most when I drive through my local town. They see a huge imposing black truck and they must think I'm a rapper or drug dealer. Of couse as we drive on the left, a left-hand drive truck makes scanning the pavement for hotties real easy.
Old men sitting in their Mercs and BMWs, sitting comfortably in their string back gloves, can barely hide their contempt for such extravagant transportation. It's only fair to show them what's what in the traffic light grand prix.
I can't help but pander to the general public reaction. A burnout here, a bit of oversteer there, all in the interests of maintaining local morale you understand...
Fuel is a major issue. It costs me about £90 to fill up with 93 octane equivalent (reckon on US$170)!

Good luck with your new truck!
Just remember, you can't take it with you..........
So you might as well spend it on your Lightning

Man, those gas prices are INSANE!!!! when I fill mine up I hate paying around $2.04 to $2.10 a gallon. I for one think the whole OPEC or- The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries are a bunch of Billionare arabs that have everyone by the AZZ!! I guess you have to pay to play!! It's nice to see that LIGHTNINGS are world wide now!

Welcome to the Lightning familly, I might be over your way this spring as my sister lives in Sunningdale. It looks like you are about 60 miles from her.
To bad I can't bring my truck with me, hehe
