hey everyone, im a hardcore ford fan all the way and dont even have much respect for anything else but fords. My favorite ford is the lightning and i think im obsest with it, especially after i talked my brother into going from a eclispe to a LIGHTNING!...he is glad i did so too. Since he has it, i actually got the chance to drive my dream truck i hope to have sometime soon and its unblievable. What im posting for is that i think the lightning is still quicker than the SRT 10. i saw one the other day and heard him get on a bit and i think that big v-10 sounded doggy. Plus i know some people with stock lightnings that run mid 13's in the quarter...and that to me sounds like the lightning would give the dodge a run for its money....and i belive the lightning would for sure win if the guy driving that dodge didnt know how to drive. Plus, if you think about it, the lightning only has 50 less torque than the srt 10 and torque is wat matters most right? since it is the power that actually moves you and as long as you have horsepower to make the torque. Also, even though the lightning does hae 50 less torque than the SRT 10, the lightning is more aerodynamic and is lighter than the srt 10. With these points in mind.. i beleive most lightnings could nearly beat them damn SRT 10's. Especially if the guy driving the srt 10 didnt know how to drive....

I agree... but the srt-10 is one hell of a truck no doubt about that.

Btw, what year eclipse did your bro have before the Lightning? I went from a 3G GT Spyder to a Lightning and man ill tell ya... the difference is amazing, except for the crappy stock sound system lol.

I'll agree with that and while on the subject. I recall a certain magazine doing a test article on the srt-10 and 04' L a few months ago where they stated that the lightning only ran a 14.1 in the 1/4 mile and the srt-10 ran i believe a 13.5 or 13.6 . Well while at the store today I ran a cross an article in Truck Trend which stated that there test of the 04'Lightning ran a modest 13.6. Hmm, makes you wonder who's telling the truth and who paid who to sell their product????

what's up svt88, i too am in the same boat as you in that i don't actually have a L but i am borderline obsesed with them. Luckily my buddy SVTpete has an 02 so i get to ride in / sometimes drive one. i agree w/ you about the srt 10, i guess they are fairly nice trucks (interior), but i don't care too much for the stylin esp. the spoiler. that plus they are real expensive to mod and from what i've read, not even gettin respectable 1/4 mi times from them. it sucks not havin a L but i will have one someday when i get out of college and have some money. heh heh. oh, and i would really like to see a L vs an srt 10 through a roadcourse or autocross b/c i think the L would kick *** and take names! peace

 

9s are actually on the way from a hennessey TT srt-10... but they're really having to put down some huge power... and even more money... if you got it flaunt it... but i'm more than happy with my L thank you very much.

 

Those hennessey trucks, especially the one the ran a 10.88. Are those built motors?

i've been following the venom project. there's one guy craig (srt10x3) on there with about 7 SRT-10s and a few vipers and various other vehicles.. He got the first 800TT but they're cranking up the boost and should be putting more than 1300 hp to the wheels (or so they plan last i checked) and i think they're built motors but not positive. I'm pretty sure most viper parts are forged to begin with. Anyway that 10.88 SRT is projecting low 9s this season.

i saw one by my work the other day. someone cut him off and he stomped on it to get back in front of them. it sounded very mean.

 

anyone who knows anything about the lightning community knows that "Craig" "srt10x3 has several Srt-10 trucks. Mainly becuase he is a multi-millionaire who is in his early 30's.

His fastest truck is running 9's.
It has a power glide 2 speed automatic, well over 1000hp.
The engine I believe has aftermarket pistons. but I'm pretty sure the remainder is fairly stock. I'm sure it has head work done.

I'll see if I can get him over here to clear it up.

As for the king of trucks.
The srt-10 is faster, there is no question about that.

However with a small amount of mods, the lightning can be made much quicker.

I think most SRT guys like the Exclusivity of the dodge srt-10. Too bad that is what Ford promised us back in '99, but never delivered. after 5 years of making the trucks Ford finally stopped.

And more important Ford broke it's promise by Promising us we'd have a gen 3 lightning. and for that reason I doubt i'll buy another. There is simply too much competition in the auto industry nowadays to be Brand loyal.

The lightning stood atop the hill for 5 years.
Now dodge stands there.
