2004 M3 +bolt on's vs. my "slow" lightning

Here are his comments after being beaten-

" I feel beaten....I met up with josh (evoicon) and did 2 runs with him, he had his girl in the car and still pulled about 2-3 cars on me....I admit defeat, but I still want to run to a higher speed because I think I will pull at about 100. and when i get my gears in next week....but anyway I got beat, good runs."

We raced 3 times from a stop. He has intake, exhaust, and a chip. as well as SMG2. He knows how to launch it pretty well.

my response to his post was
" Thanks, Your car is still worth way more then mine. and it has 2 things on me...Handling, and braking. (handling is 2 weeks from now...braking could be solved by this weekend via stoptech) It was fun running. It was as fair as possible, I let him do the beeping because it was more about him launching then me. Im pretty happy with the results, Luke your car still looks hot, its a german luxury/sports car. and that thing sounds great. but the quote of the night comes from luke. We did our first run at a stop light and i let it all hang out. he let off because he thought "my blower sounded like a siren" damn that thing is loud, i dont blame him. when I had my wrx and i raced my room mates modded lightning in NJ with the windows open, i thought it was quite loud as well. Remember luke, with SMG2 and the diff you have to get the smg reprogrammed for it to work right Frown sounds expensive LOL. It was cool meeting up. I wish there would be more fun during the week. Back in NJ we used to have supper meets, and everyone was really tight, we'd joke around with the "whose car is faster" stuff, but everyone was friendly and had a great time. Cheers.

Josh "

my rwhp is 384 and rwtq is 472...do you think the dyno was just low? i had 3 cars on him by 80mph!

im pretty satisfied with the runs.

What dyno place?

I dyno at Pro Auto and made 476/537 I can't get the tires to hook. (DR's) M3 are nothing for me don't do a 40+ roll with them you start to fight with weight and areodynamics at those speeds.

We should meet up some time since you live in Ft Myers.

Mustang Motorsporst is where i get my parts! how about you?

Yeah, I'm down to meet up. I got my car dyno'd at JJ performance (the low dyno numbers) and my friends mobile dyno service for the high numbers. what are your mods compared to mine? obviously m3's are nothing to me either. especially if i had 3 cars on him by 80. i went next to him from a roll. 40mph IS NOT a good speed to downshift in the lightning...its either a 10 or 15 roll or 50-60 thats where you get the better/hard downshifts. When i raced an evo at 40...not the best downshift.

I recently drove my sister's 04 M3, and it is a whole different animal. Straight line, I could waste it. Burning rubber, fishtailing, we got it hands down. But, overall fun factor with the 8 grand redline and 6 speed, pimp factor, twisties, fit and finish, it blows us away.

hmm

I'd love to meet up and see how your truck runs, must be pretty fast. I want to know what mine does vs. a really fast one. Gatorbelt definately DOESNT slip at all. its worth the extra couple bucks. The LFP pulley hasnt slipped either. I'd love to see what that blower looks like.

i'd have to disagree.. i think a Lightning pimp factor is pretty damn high.. But they are pretty badass.. i'd rather have my Lightning over an m3 anyways.. but to each his own right?

I guess the pimp factor would be regional. In So Cal, the fancy beamers reign supreme with chicks. In the midwest, a sweet truck like the L's would hang or even be better the M I guess (I grew up in Kansas so that's where that opinion comes from). M3 is double the cost of L as well. Probably the coolest item on the car is the self leveling headlights. They straight kick arsh!

my roomate has an 04 m3 and he begs me to trade cars with him some nights....ya its cool to have an m3 but its kind of generic...anyone with money can go out and buy a 65k dollar car but i think our trucks have a little more "soul" if you will....and repairs are really really expensive on the m3 and he always has little stupid **** goin wrong with...electrics, tire sensors, window lock....but the brakes are UNBELIEVABLE!!!! first time i drove it i abuot slammed my head into the steering wheel, it no 5000 lb brick to stop

No chit there!! I was f'n amazed. I never did get used to it that day. It's like negative 3 g's when you touch that peddle. I'd love to get it on a road course.

You're right, but perfect conditions and pro driver. It is tricky lauching it. I've seen normal people getting low 13's out of them, but they get it at the last 1/8 mile. Most of us are running low to mid 12's, mainly in the first half, which makes it not even close on the street.

Trust me, the strength of these things is not on the dragstrip.

hmmm, the m3 was my second car, the evo had leveling headlights and i put down 320awhp for under 3 grand which blew away an m3 because m3's are torqueless. I have another kid running his mouth about his m3...thats going down tonight.

talk to you later.
