One thing I've always hated about specialty car forums is those members that can't keep an open mind, bash anything but what they drive, and make rediculous uninformed statements.

Dork-N-Beans, you claimed under 5K GTO's sold in '04. Not even close. They sold just over 2600 of them just in the month of December. Total sold is over 13K

I really don't care if you like the GTO or not, just don't pass along bogus info as fact.

 

if they sold 2600 in december then that would be the 05 model not 04 next year production starts in sept btw a mustang gt is not a specialty car if you like a goat good for you...i thought this was a lightning forum

 

Around here, the '05 Goats didn't hit the lots 'til after the first of the year. The '04s were all there were through December. I don't know if the rest of the country experienced the same thing or not.

 

here is what kills me,GM canned the F twins because sales were under 50k per year at the end,Ford canned the T-Bird..old one ...cause it was under 125k units per year so 2600 x 12 months =31,200 units the mustang is expected to top 250,000..so if its 1/2 second slower so what ,at least it will be around 5 years from now, and i know its a mustang and not a 500

 

GM is coming out with a redesigned Camaro in '07. And I seriously doubt it will be 330hp like the last of the Camaros in '02. Whereas Ford puts in a 300hp motor and calls it a day and expects the masses to buy it. I'm with you, though!! The masses _will_ buy it. Ford has its marketing of the pony car down. They've done their homework, and I guess we're all just stupid enough to be "satisfied" with a 300hp, 3500+lb GT.

But comparing V8 sales to V8 sales, its a much closer ballgame, and there's no way I'd buy an '05 GT over an '05 GTO (not that I'm in the market for either). I mean... who honestly cares how many 6-bangers they sell? The beancounters do, but as a performance enthusiast, I don't, and its too bad that someone can buy a poser 6-wacker car that shares 99% of its parts with my 300hp GT.

Hopefully Ford will actually build the Cobra, but I have my doubts. SVT has been neutered now that Coletti is gone.

Today I finally had one of these lil hot rod grand ams come up to play. I must say I really didnt know what to expect but after spanking him not once, not twice but three times he had enough and let the lil birdie fly, lmfao what a sore looser!
Oh BTW he was the one to instigate it all three times.
Im sure I only won (buy 6 to 10 car lengths each time) because he hadnt figured out how to shift but as soon as he does Im sure Im in deep do-do!

I guess the only bad thing is that the few that did see us playing around must of thought ...why is that truck picking on a cavalier?

'05's Didn't start hitting dealers lots until January. The number I quoted was '04 sales. Really don't give a rat's a$$ is you like the GTO or not, I'm just setting the record straight as far as sales figures.

The guy driving the GTO you raced was an a$$ clown. If I did play with an L I'd fully expect to get my a$$ handed to me. Like I've said many times, my L would spank my GTO.

People just need to relax and have fun with what they drive.

 

It's funny I have not been around for a couple of day's and this topic show's up. My uncle who lives in Ohio stopped by on his way to Daytona Monday night. Guess what he has, a 04 GTO It's the Purple Met' color. He paid $24,000 for it, but it stickered for 33,something. He took me for a ride in it(wouldn't let me drive ) I tell you for what I could tell it would get on down the road! The interior seemed to be put together pretty good.Now, I have one uncle that just bought a 04 red Lightning and now another show's up in a 04 GTO.So that's two to one.But, I give the GTO props It would be a good run, depending on the driver, but I think my Lightning would leave OL' UNC scratching his head! All in all not a bad car, but I will be keeping my LIGHTNING!!
