Blower fan quit working at lower speeds
My heater blower quit working on the lower 2 speeds. Even though it was -10F when I left for work this morning, the blast of air and noise from the higher 2 speeds was annoying.
I thought I would have to replace either the blower fan/motor or the switch, but my brother says because it still works on the higher speeds, it's probably a 'resistor block' failure.
Anyone know where this might be located so I can check it out?

Most definatly a blower resistor, that is a classic example of a bad resistor.
It's usually right above where the passengers feet would be. And it's made to be in the air stream of the HVAC. (not sure where on a gen 2 lightning though?)

It finally got warm enough to replace the resistor assembly (Part #4L3Z-19A706-AA $14.92) today. Working under the dash is bad enough when it’s warm, and I didn’t want to bother my brother to use his shop.
Thanks wydopnthrtl, that's exactly where it was located. Took off the plastic tray under the glove box (3 screws w/ 8mm heads). As the new resistor had a 4 prong electrical connector, I followed 4 wires up almost to the fire wall and there it was. I couldn’t see it, but it felt about right. Took out two more screws (again w/ 8mm heads) and out it came. Boy, it sure was corroded, maybe from the a/c condensate. Started to get a cramp from the funny angle so I tried to sit up and hit my head on the drink holder I should have pushed in and got blood on the tunnel carpet. ***** No good deed goes unpunished. Band-aid on forehead, but blower works fine now.
