I replaced with a new FTVB I purchased from another member on the boards. I just recently learned that the stock units are supposed to be mailed back to FTVB to keep the price of the FTVB down. If this is correct, where do I ship? Does FTVB send a shipping label or something?

If you purchased it from a member,not a vendor, then that said member would have sent in his VB core. So you get to keep your VB. If the member did not send in his core, then he would have been charged for that.
