Methnol Injection???

Does anyone run methnol/alcohol injection on their truck, if not then why? Seems to be a really good idea. Cooler intake temps and more boost with out detonation. Thanks!

Ive run it for a while. Gave me 3#s of boost and stripped rotors on 2 blowers. Enabled me to run a more aggressive tune on the street. All in all, It was a worthwhile mod.

A lot of people of people have tried it, but it is nearly impossible to evenly distribute it, it would require you to fab a manifold to distribute it correctly...

So I guess that applies to nitrous oxide too! Any atomized liquid or vapor will do the same. You NEVER get exact proportions in every cylinder, unless its a port injection set-up.Not really a big deal. Alcohol injection DOES work.

It didn't work for me. I spent 3 hours of dyno time, 9 different tunes, the best it did with methanol injection was down 10 hp from my race tune best.

OK, but so does it harm the blower any? The reason is I want to keep the remainder of my factory warranty! Thanks

All the teflon on your rotor packs will be gone. As far as gaining power, I made 618 rwhp on pump gas with it. Ive seen it strip rotor packs on 1 KB and 3 Eatons. Stripped rotors arent bad though. I ran without the teflon coating and couldnt feel a difference. You could try increasinf the lubricant mix to 2 teaspoons and that may help.

No one has made a succesful set up yet, that is all I am saying... Also it is not the same as nitrous... That N2O does not act like methanol anyways... I have seen 5 L's on the dyno try it and none worked... And like the other poster said, if you get it working will, have fun with rotors.

Ok, so it strips the teflon off the rotors, what is the exact result of this and add 2 teaspoons of lube to what? the methnol? But what if you run more water to dilute the methnol, say 75% water 25% methnol, it will still kill the rotors??? also would this void the factory warranty?? Thanks guys I really appreciate it!

I have a water/methanol injection on my mustang. Unfortunately it did not help the car make more power. This is likely due to the fact I run a blow through carb setup and it didn't atomize fast enough. I then found a puddle in my carb box, and noticed it dripping out my blow off valve. I may try more testing using a different nozzle location, but I'm still not certain it will help me. I don't run pump gas in this car anyway.

I have often thought of trying it on the lightning, but since it appears to cause the teflon to come off I may skip it. I would assume it would void your factory warranty, but it seems to depend on your relationship with the dealer, and your ability to remove the kit without a trace.

Good luck,
greg
