Stupid Testing

http://fordtruckworld.tenmagazines.c...aid=1980&sid=2

Unfortunately, the truck did not want to cooperate and in this situation, we had a poor idle after the first few dyno runs and our results were inconclusive. Nevertheless, we gathered several other dyno runs that AEM has produced in recent days and found that the system delivered an average of 19.6 hp and 13.5 lbs.-ft. of torque to the rear wheels of these vehicles.

Duh, our test did'nt work so we just took there word.

Ford truck world should have contacted me!

I installed that system on my 2001 L and did before and after dyno runs. Mine picked up 15HP and about 8 or 9ft/lbs of torque. The only thing was that they seem to derive the added power by letting more air go by the MAF sensor into the motor thus leaning it out a bit. The I.D. of the tube where the MAF gets installed is 100mm. This is 10mm wider than the stock MAF housing.
My L's factory PCM tune is already on the lean side according to people on here who looked at the dyno sheets I posted. But Sal said that this was not uncommon and the stock tunes vary.
My dyno run after the AEM was installed showed the final A/F ration being about .25 to .5 higher than stock.

I have taken the AEM off for now until I decide what to do with it.
I guess I need a dyno tune where the A/F table can be adjusted to compensate for the increased amount of air going into the motor.

Eric

I wonder if the idle problem was caused by incorrect TPS voltage. Seem to remember some folks having this trouble when swapping intakes.

Something else must have been wrong with that girl's L. After installing the AEM I didn't have any idle or running problems. Other than the lean part! My L ran like normal.
