Unhappy Driveshaft Question?

Have any of u guys ever broke your driveshaft and had the airbags deploy? I was at the track today and on my only run i got some real bad wheel hop and my driveshaft broke and the airbags came out.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, you will need to get either a pinion snubber or a good pair of traction bars. My friend broke his driveshaft at the track also but his air bags did not deploy, I'm not sure why yours did, maybe it hit a sensor when it broke, just a thought.

Bert.

the only reason why they would not do it is if they found out that it happened while you were at the track.

Shouldn’t be a problem since the air bags are NOT suppose to deploy unless you have an impact on the front and then it has to be a certain force (speed). As was stated you shouldn’t mention anything about the track…

You know ford they find every reason to void our warranty. I think they might want to pull a fast one if they realise that you have a 5 LBer.

Pete the dealership should replace the airbags ...did the broken driveshaft cause the truck to decelerate hard or did the truck just shudder ?

If you "pogo'ed" it at all, that would deploy ... It happens in Milliseconds

...and if a Ford rep is reading this...you're going to pay anyways.

Seriously...I'd make it stock again and then bring it in.

I'm going to guess that you don't have any type of traction bars on your L.

pete, since your truck is outta warranty i don't think they're gonna fix the bags for free. but i guess it's worth a shot. how much did they quote you for a new driveshaft?

Waranty shouldnt matter because the airbags should not have deployed. thank god my driveshaft broke at the start because i shure would hate for it to break when im drivin real fast and the air bags blow out in my face before i hit anything and cause me to wreck.
