was thinking of trying to polish my plenum and SC on my own.... iv never done anything like this before, so in my mind im thinking... just start with 120grit and work my way up to 1000 grit.... is it that easy??

any advice, tips, pics??

 

I like this pic,it kinda shows u whats involved.First off make sure u have a decent respirator.(Lots of black tasty dust)I used a dremel with some 120 grit flap wheels to get down the initial roughness,then to 220 grit flap wheel.From that point on i worked through the grits fom 400,600 by hand.I then used a spray bottle and wetsanded at 800 grit.At this point i started to actuallly polish the metal with white rouge compound(they can be found in Home Depot,Looks like giant lipstick tubes,popup style).To apply and polish with the rouge i used an electric drill with buffing pads found at home depot also.You'll have to go back on spots sometimes by hand but dont be discouraged.Final polish can be done with some mothers.Its dirty and tries your patience but the end results are rewarding.Total time to do the nose of my blower, the ribs and base was about 20 hours for me.I did a little bit here and there.I had the truck down over the winter.

 

Get prices on having it polished and you will get an idea of how time consuming it is.

I thought I was gonna polish my supercharger until I started, SCREW THAT!! I do not have the time or patience to get it done right. So I polished the ribs, FORD SVT on the front and painted it.

Sure you can paint yours red. All you have to do is prep it well, primer, paint and clear. I used all high temp stuff.
