Like you said, JDM has the best engine program out there for these trucks. If you decide to go with JDM, I'm sure you'll be more than satisfied with the service you receive. You'll find it hard to find a better group of people than the folks at JDM. Pay them a visit and you'll see.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents here as well. I've had my ins and outs with JDM and I can honestly say that Jim always tries his best to take care of everyone. I've seen a lot of guys post about Jim not giving them the time of day unless they spend mucho bucks. Think about it, if you're a business owner, aren't you going to take extra special care of the people you make big money from? I'm not saying that you have to neglect the people that don't spend alot but I know in my business I tend to be a little more generous to the big spenders. It's just a fact of life. Why do you think big tippers get better service than the guy who only leaves a buck?

Another thing I've noticed is that most of the negative posts that bash JDM seem to always be from the same guys over and over. There comes a point in time where a businessman knows he can't satisfy a particular customer so he cuts his losses and moves on. There are just some people that wouldn't be satisfied no matter what Jim did.

Many of the people on these boards don't see what Jim gives back to the Lightning community. I've been to several FFW's and on numerous occasions seen Jim buy dinner for a group of 20 people and never ask for a dime in return. I've seen him give away race fuel at events to make sure someone makes the next round of eliminations (me being one of those people). I've seen Jim & Shaun work on trucks that didn't have a single JDM part installed and not ask for anything in return. At Bristol two years ago, my wife mentioned she was cold and Julie gave her a $30 sweatshirt and refused to let her pay for it. It was the first time either of us had ever met the JDM crew. I know it's not that big of a deal but little things like that really add up when you're traveling all over the country sponsoring a race series.

All I can say is go to some of these races and you'll see what I'm talking about. Anybody from TeamJDM will do their best to take care of you whether you've spent $100 or $10,000 with them. They are true to the core enthusiasts.

[cheer]I guess you could call me a cheerleader. More like a representative since I consider myself part of the JDM family.[/cheer]

I just wanted to clarify the whole chain of events surrounding my exhaust since there seemed to be some confusion. I bought my truck right after Thanksgiving in 2002. JDM had a great Christmas deal ($425) on their Silver Bullet, so I bought it. Honestly, I have never been disappointed with the sound, or the look of it (other than the crappy rusty pipes, and the rusty weld between the two tips). So, I installed this on my truck the day it arrived - sometime around Christmas. I drove the truck for a month or two and noticed how bad the quality of the system was while I was washing the bottom of the truck. As a matter of fact, the bottom of the truck was always cleaned at each washing. I called JDM on this and got the run around for quite a few months.... speaking to each individual there and getting nothing accomplished. Finally, Jim probably got tired of hearing from me and said he would send out a new tail section. I was very thankfull for that gesture, but as he was telling me that he would send it out, he was also saying that they were changing to stainless. I was not pushing him to send it next day, however, I was pushing him to make the situation right. As a good business owner, he should have sent me a new stainless piece at any cost. I was grateful for what I did get as I know it was asking quite a bit from JDM.
The reason I post so much concerning JDM is to try and inform newbies of their shady side, and also to try and make JDM a better vendor. Maybe one day they can get the hang of it? I know they have quite a bit to offer, but they are lacking the business skills to execute it.
As far as the big spender compared to the not so big spender... I believe that each should be treated equally when there are ISSUES. That was my point all along. You have to treat each customer's problems the same whether it be VINNIE, Don's Bolt, or me. Equality on this issue is the key to customer service success.

My $0.02

There is NO way to make someone who has the time and the **** retentive tendencies to wash the bottom of thier truck happy.

If it were me I would have offered you the "Showtruck rotisserie quality" exhaust that costs $3000. That way I would be sure to have made enough profit to pay people to answer the 26 phone calls I would expect to get from you complaining about the look of the exhaust while you were on a creeper underneath with a toothbrush.

Exhaust systems rust - **** if you live in the rust belt ( Ohio ) Everything rusts. Doesnt matter if its stainless or not - And it doesnt matter if you drive in the winter or not - I lived up north for 20 years. Im shocked that you would be surprised that an exhaust system was rusting. As far as I know the only "stainless" that doesnt rust at all is the 400 series which is REALLY expensive and not suitable for exhaust temps.

All of the folks here who are like 93 Cobra and are posting for reasons like this
The reason I post so much concerning JDM is to try and inform newbies of their shady side,
are in violation of the dead horse rule pposted in the new years resolution at the top of the forum
repeatedly posting negative comments or intentionally driving threads off-topic with "dead-horse" issues will result in:

1) Warnings sent by email for a first offense.
2) Banning for a second offense.
The rule was created by Steve the webmaster and will be enforced by him.

93Cobra - You can consider this your first and second offense.

Thanks
Doug

Well, since this special is now over and yet another "dead horse" issue has run the thread aground, it's probably time to close it.
