slicks questions
slicks questions
i was looking to get some cheap american racing black steel wheels for the track like 16x8's and put some 28 x 10's on them. but the L has a 7 inch backspacing stock i think? what size rim and tire does every1 run for the track? im not looking for anything expensive just what gets the job done. thanks guys
Slicks and rims
First, I would get 16X10 rims to run 28X10 slicks. It will keep your contact patch flat, rather than scrunched up. I've gone through , 26, then 28, and now 30 inch slicks. You wanna keep your slicks flat to the surface. It will also allow the slicks to wrinkle properly, which helps them hook up. Everyone has their own opinions, but I'm down to 1.52 60 ft. times, and that ain't too bad. Try the classifieds, you might pick up a good deal on some used rims for a good price. Also, the size slick you run depends on the level of power you are feeding them. I'm down to 10.70's at 127 MPH, and running 30X10.50 Hoosier radial drag slicks. 28 inchers are good for 11's, 26 inch slicks are what I used when I was going 12's. I hope this helps you a little.

Maybe you should wait til I make my first new pass,
I'll prob need to move up to 30's now, hehehehehe
(sad but true)
But FYI I am one of the peeps that does currently run 28x10 Hoosiers on 16x8 American Racing Rims. Dam good 60's with them too (1.6 usually) but I do have a few low 1.7's.
I expect that to change with my new KICK *** FT TD Converter.
; o )
Can't help you as I said cause Sal hooked me up with a customer that sold them to me, but here's the choice "I BELIEVE"
