Bazooka bass tubes (powered)
Bazooka bass tubes (powered)
I did a search and ran across a few old threads from 02 and 01. I also posted a thread in the subwoofer section but go no replies. But, wanted to see how many have Bazookas in their L's?
I know that most guys have gone with MTX Thunderforms or other enclosures, but that's not what I want to do. If there are any L's with Bazookas, what size are they and are you still happy with them? I don't want big booming bass that you can hear a mile away. All I want is some low end to round out my system. I have right now, Alpine HU 60x4 watts, and Boston Acoustics 5x7 speakers in the stock locations. Do you guys think I'll be happy with a powered bazooka? Either an 8" or a 10"?

FWIW
I got an 8" powered Bazooka from my old car. I was going to install it in my Lightning with the factory stereo. But after the performance bug bit, never got around to it.
Maybe I'll get around to it this year

I have a 10" bazooka tube behind the passenger seat.....it's not a powered sub, but I have a 440 watt 4 channel amp that's hooked up to it and it sounds great. I have the Sony X-plod 52 x 4 cdrw/mp3 and pioneer 6x8 4 ways......and it really sounds good.
I think the 10" is a good choice because if you want more bass, then you can just turn it up......just my .02 bud.
you going to the L meet on the 15th at quaker steak??

I have a 6" powered Bazooka tube... works perfect. It was easy to wire in directly to the battery, and just fits behind the driver seat.... must remove the storage bin of course. It had exactly what I wanted, and is how these things should have come from the factory.
On a side note - ever see the Sub Ford uses in the 04 and up F-150 supercab? They have a very nice system in those. I never understood why the Lightning was the only SVT product to have a terrible sound system.

I had a 6.5" 150W Bazooka in my last Lightning for about a year. It sounded great with a 4x50W amp going to 4 Polk 5x7's. I ended up getting a used MTX Thunderform w/ 250W monoblock amp for a song from a friend. There is no doubt that the MTX "out-pounds" the Bazooka; but I have to turn the gain almost all the way down so that it "matches" the output of the 5x7's. The advantage of the Bazooka is being able to use most of the space behind the seats. The jack also stays in place since you don't need a separate amp. FWIW, I've got a Bazooka on sale on NLOC.
