Oil in intake elimination question.......
Oil in intake elimination question.......
If I install the breathers on each valve cover, how much blow-by are you guys seeing as a result of having no PCV?
In years past, when I have done this, there has always been SOME blow-by, which varies engine-to-engine, and wear and other factors as well, but I just don't want that smell permeating the truck.
Thanks.

I've seen a lot of concern about the PCV system on these engines, mainly over oil intrusion into the intake system. Has anyone tried using breathers, eliminating the PCV system, and using a vaccum pump to eliminate crankcase pressure? Seems like it might be a good alternative.

I want to know what people are experiencing regarding blow-by.
I've heard some guys are seeing considerable spray. Really it would depend alot on how a guy drives, oil temps, and types of oil (to a small degree).
IMO.. a daily driver should not be using breathers. But on a toy truck / racer I'd think it to be ok.
(stock setup w/a seperator on mine)

On my buddy's 9-second Cuda, he uses an old air pump from a Caddy that was originally for the air ride suspension. He reversed the polarity of the wires and turned it into a crankcase vacuum pump. Cheap, and it works.

No problem,
A guy could always put a foam sleeve over the out side and clean it every once in a while.
Even though my truck now is pretty much parked I'm choosing to stick with the stock setup and seperator. Mostly because I want to have the ability to drive it anywhere anytime.
