Wiring guru's....

I hard wire my radar detector via the overhead console. When I turn my lights on it turns off. I know this has to do with the auto diming feature. I'm not aware of any other way to wire it.

Anyone have suggestions??

I have a whistler pro-73

thanks,
-Rich

When you turn the lights on, the auto dim decreases the voltage into the temp display, which is less than the detector needs. You can either run a new power wire up there, or splice that one into a different power source, but to splice it elsewhere, you'd need the wiring diaqgrams to find out where the harness plugs into.

Get a fuse tap, and get power off your fuse block.

Like stated above, go straight to the fuse panel, preferably to a constant power source. Also make sure to use a fusible link in case of a power surge you wont burn your truck up.

I think this is what you will need to get it sorted out. I think I used the wh/lb. The full sized version is
here.

I think you musta grabbed the wrong wires. The voltage
on mine is constant regardless of the light switch position.

Here's the best write up ... Madhouse's

That's exactly the link I used. white w\b was the only hot wire available there. I'm sure it's my detector, it must require a bit more voltage or something like that.

oh well it works geat now and only took me 15min. to do.
