Gates Green Strip belts are recommended as they slip less then cheap belts such as NAPA. For the 4# lower the correct belt length is 68 inches.

The MP idler bracket adds up to an additional 45 degrees of belt wrap around the blower pulley which reduces belt slippage dramatically.

Hey Charles

Here's a question for ya. How much larger of a belt do you need, after the installation of your idler bracket, if your all ready running the dual 100mm idler pullies?

Well, I'm running all stock idlers (90mm) with a 6# lower and a 68.5 belt. (Correct length for a 6#'er) I can just get the belt to slip over the blower pulley with the tensioner fully extended (stop tab removed) and the MP idler bracket. So I figure the belt might be too short if I had 100mm idlers meaning perhaps I would need a 69" belt. The correct length for a 4#'er is 68 inches so with the MP bracket and 100mm idlers I think a 68.5" belt would be about right.

Hey guys, those of you with the magnum powers, could you post your likes, dislikes of the product? I'm looking into purchasing one, and i see so many mixed results by searching, so maybe i'll get some updated input by asking. Anyhow, if you've had it, or have it, let me know what you thought or think of it. What kind of power are you making, etc. I really want high 11's on my stock block, will this get me my 460ish hp at a decent boost level. Thanks guys

Awsome product!!!!I went from 482hp to 527hp with just a swap of the blower from a ported eaton like you to a magnums. The boost level increase is incredible. It just keeps on pulling!!I saw a peak of 21lbs of boost on the street where with my ported eaton i would only see 14.5 and it would drop off to 11.Same pulley setup. The magnums is a great choice in my book anyday.

Any reliability problems with 21 lbs of boost and a stock short block? Or are you guys going with good rods/pistons before you do this swap?

Thats where it usualy goes boom! Not every block is the same so there are some that will and have blown with less boost on a stock engine.

Just bought an MP from JDM... sitting in a box in the garage until my new bolts and gaskets arrive from Genuine Ford Parts.com tomorrow. Will install this weekend. To address the "will my stock motor be ok" issue, I've talked to a lot of people, many on this forum (a lot to Rob02), and read MANY tech articles. I am installing this thing with a certain degree of comfort for this reason: I truly believe that with the right tune (also have a 4-program SCT chip from JDM... with street and race fuel tunes) and enough octane (I run 93 street and VP MS-109 race fuel), your stock block will be fine. Just don't try to beat on it every weekend. I plan on racing my L maybe a few runs a month... maybe even less. BUT... for now I just want those 460+ RWHP and 550+RWTQ numbers and an 11.9 second or better timeslip in my hand. That will make me happy... for now. When I upgrade to larger injectors, better cooling, etc., I'll feel more comfortable racing more often. Again, I follow the Kenne Bell tech rules. The Lightning stock motor is strong enough to run medium boost (not 10-12, but not 20-21... 16-18 max) if you keep detonation out. That is done with a good tune, and with race fuel if you want to run on the edge. Face it, none of us get on it THAT hard on the street. Maybe a burst here and a whomp there, but it's at the track that you really ring it out. Just spend the figgin' 40 bucks for 5 gallons of 103+ octane fuel... have a race tune for 50/50 (like I did), mix your 5 gallons of 103+ with your 5 gallons on 93, and go racing... with SOME peace of mind. Like Suavy just said... some will run all day like that, and some will grenade after 3 runs. Guess that's the game we play. But do yourself a favor... make sure it has enough fuel and enough spark for the boost and timing you're trying to run!

Just finished the MP install. Really easy guys... did the entire thing in 4 hours. Let me tell you, the fit and finish on the Magnum Powers blower is outstanding. The Eaton rotor pack slid right in and bolted up nicely. I didn't have a single "hickup" during the whole swap.

The truck runs sweet. I only ran the JDM "mile summer tune" today... (60 degrees), but will load it up with race fuel and get it on the dyno soon to see what it can do. And the sound is phenominal. It screams.

I'll be posting some swap pics soon... so stay tuned.

Oh, by the way for those running the 12 inch cone cold air system... couple ways to make it suck more air... 1) there is a black plastic piece between the front facia and the headlight casing on the front. Get down there and look in there. The stock air inlet takes in air through the headlight gap to feed the air breather throught the wheel well. If you drill multiple holes (1/2 inch) into this black plastic piece, you can increase this airflow.... 2) also, I ran a 4 inch aluminum dryer hose from my front facia grill up through the wheel well, and right in below the 12" filter. Feeds tones of air. Took me about 20 minutes. When I put in on the dyno, and they put the fan in front of the truck, the air coming out of that dryer hose, right onto the filter was massive. Give it a try. Email me for details if you'd like.
