This morrning on my way to work, the transmission decided it had lived a trouble-free existance long enough.

Whenever the transmission is loaded without torque convertor lockup, there is a kind of whining noise. If I put it in nuetral, even with the truck rolling there is no noise. Also, if its in gear but I'm not pushing the throttle, there isn't any noise. I never got a chance to see if the noise went away when the convertor locked up since I was already at work and couldn't drive fast enough to see.

Does this sound like a convertor issue or the tranny itself? What't the best replacement convertor that uses the factory stall speed?
