One other thing to check - make sure the EGR valve is OK and the hard line is connected tightly. I test drove a friends L after a blower swap & found that the 'ticking' noise was coming from the hard line being only hand tight....

Thanks to you all. We found that almost ALL of the plugs were loose and they were tightened immediately. I knew you all could help! Thanks again
