Best traction device for L?
Best traction device for L?
Got a ton of parts on order for my new '04 L, and need to address the lack of traction. This thing has almost none in stock form, so what are you guys using for a street driven truck? Torque arm? Traction bars?
I want something that is functional but doesn't misbehave on the street.

Traction bars will help, but tires is most important. I just received and installed LFP Torque bars and they are great. The ride wasnt really affected (its a little stiffer, feel somemore of the road now). But my traction didnt really improve with F1's with 1/2 tread left on them. Street slicks like the Nitto DR's will make a big difference. The traction bars are more for saftey so you dont get the wheel hop or risk damaging the leaf springs and drive shaft. I would recomend doing both - tire and bars together.

Tires, gearing, launch technique, etc = traction.
"Traction" bars = keeping that traction from destroying the driveline.
58" Torque Bars here as well. Most likey have to get exhaust adjusted to clear on the pass. side, otherwise it's clunk clunk on the bumps. :o Front brackets hang a little too

Hey TXSVTLIGHTNING,
Truck looks sweet!!!!!
What exhaust do you run? I have a good three inch's just sitting between the exhaust and the bars? I have a Silver Bullit system with that much clearance. The front brackets are pretty low, I agree

I had a simple pinion snubber that I got from Troyer Performance on my Lightning when I had it. It was less than half the cost of any of the traction bars available and worked great.
What would be a good traction bar for a lowered lightning. my truck is lowered 4 inchs in the rear.
Here is a side view of the truck so you guys how know this stuff can get a better idea for me

best traction mod?
Simple SLICKS.
Next something to AID in traction, not to eliminate wheel hop.
So the answer would be a 4 link rear suspension. They really aren't that complicated once you understand how they work.
If you want to Stop Wheel hop (Axle Wrap) Spend a fortune on Lift Bars.
(I personally use JLP lift bars)
But the traction device is only as good as the Tire Grip. If you have slicks on Ice, No traction device will aid in weight transfer, to put more weight on the rear tires.
That is all the lift bars "try" to do.
Put more weight on the rear tires, so that they have more traction.
Everyone is so concerned with the power they make, I'm more concerned with putting it to the ground.
