Putting an L motor in a reg 5.4

I have been planning on doing a built motor next year and I am starting to gather my parts together (maf - Kb - inj - ect) to have on hand for when the motor arrives so I can just swap entire longblocks. I am going to be pulling the entire longblock oil pan to blower and installing the new setup over a weekend.

I work at a dealership with lifts / tranny jacks / ect ect ect so it wont be a big deal and I will have two ASE master techs helping me do this so it should be a quick and easy deal. We installed a set of longtubes on the truck in 3 hours start to finish with us BSing around.

Since I will have a complete motor assy available with blower and all. One of the techs that will help me swap the motors is intrested in buying the whole thing to install in his truck. He has 2000 f150 4x4 with 5.4l in it.

My question is this what else besides my engine assy will he need besides some computer tuning. I will also give him my MAF so I would not think he would need much else.

Bob

Good point.

Engine harness ?

Seems like his harness would be ok? He has 5.4 in it already.

Lightning ECM ?

Not sure on this one, I would think a chip in his ECU could control timing and injector P/W

Fuel pumps ?

He will be running stock boost, hopefully he could get buy with one 255lph in the tank and maybe a trex pushing it inline.

Transmission that can survive ?

He will cross that road when he gets to it, he is very skilled tech. I think he could handle most of the porbelms that could arise.

Good points.

Thanks,
Bob

The Lightning has two intake air temp sensors, the 5.4 only one. Also, the Lightning has an intercooler pump that needs a harness and a t-stat switch to turn it on. Several sensors, like the MAF, are positioned much differently than the 5.4 The Lightning ECU is programmed to deal with both boost and vacuum, so I don't think you can do without it. So, if I were doing it, I'd be sure to have the engine harness and ECU available.
