What Intake Pipe to buy?
What Intake Pipe to buy?
Hehe I'm feeling impulsive. Going to order one today and would like some opinions. Are they all the same more or less? Any X-Mas specials running right now on any vendors? I have the PSP "ducted" (can't say Ram or Cold air or Mr. Skelton might ream me
) intake kit on my 03' L and would like a nice hard pipe to connect it. What would you guys rcommend for a white L?
Thanks!
HO HO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD ON!

OK, just checked my current PSP Intake setup and my MAF sensor edge lines up perfectly with the far edge of the pulley sticker on the fan shroud. Can I assume most intake pipes will match this?
That REM carbon fiber pipe looks GORGEOUS.. but 200 bux for a cosmetic piece may be stretching my "impulsiveness"

thx for the pic bro. Hmm, lifts the kit? My PSP kit has a bracket that bolts to the front of the engine. Not sure it would "stretch" if it had to come up..

I removed it for the C&L...
No problems
Since your down in the FLA heat I'd suggest something that's not metal. It'll retain the engine room heat much longer.
(that's why I have the REM unit)

as for the rubber grommets, I had to use weatherstrip adhesive to install them in the first place as they simply don't have a good lip to seal onto with the rough fiberglass openings. so they fall out easily or can create unmetered air leaks even when new. since installing them with the 3M weatherstrip adhesive I've had no sealing or loosening problems. however I noticed several months ago that the rubber grommets were starting to crack and deteriorate as was mentioned above by LIGHTNINROD.
I just installed this tube in May when I was up at Sal's shop to dyno. and after that the truck wasn't used for several months. so even if you count that period of non use the grommets didn't last but about 4 or 5 months before they started cracking.
the part looks great, but that is one area in need of some work IMO.
one other small thing, there is nothing to support the weight of the filter and tube except the mounting point at the throttle body, there is no bracket, strap, etc to help keep the thing from vibrating loose and falling off of the throttle body. the rubber boot and hose clamp do that job. so far mine hasn't fallen off, but I do keep and eye one it, I notice when it moves and I push it back in to place...
short version... my REM tube is currently being replaced with the new JDM 108MM tube.
