Thumbs down blew a piston threw the block!

i going to san diego from phoenix, made it to yuma, big boom, lots of smoke out the tail pipe, oil everywhere. had it towed back to phoenix ($570). my brother in law works at the ford dealership he took a look at the motor and brought me home couple suvineres, one was the top of one of my pistons, the other was a chunk of the block. he found the piston somewhere in the front suspention. i wish i knew how to post pictures casue the piston is a real sight, looks like a piece of terminators chewing gum. now i dont know what i want to do, i can get a long block from ford at an employees price, but i would risk blowing the stock block again, how do i get in touch with someone who does stroker motors, any one know any good L tuners in Arizona?
my mods are: 6# lower, intake, cat back, dioblo preditor.
its a silver 2000 L had 47,000 when she went.

ak2azyz4ever sorry to hear about your engine. I would suggest giving Dean over at SVC Motorsports a call and let them know what you are looking to do. They have tuned the fastest Lightnings in AZ and are great guys.

SORRY ABOUT YOUR MOTOR MINE BLEW ABOUT A MONTH AGO WITH 4000 MILES ON STOCK BLOCK. FORD FACTORY PISTONS AND RODS SUCKS ON OUT LIGHTNINGS. BUT JDM IS BUILDING ME A 10 SECOND MOTOR AND ALSO WILL PROGRAM ME A CHIP. THEY WILL SHIP THIER ENGINES ANY WHERE. THEY ARE A LOT OF GOOD ENGINE BUILDERS ON THIS FORUM BUT JDM HAPPENS TO BE ONE OF MY FAVORITES. POWERED BY JDM[ QUALITY IS REMEMBERED LONG AFTER THE PRICE IS FORGOTTEN]

Sorry to hear about your motor. What was the temperature? Did you do a kick down? Do you know what your timing and a/f looked like? Thanks

I would guess the rod failed not the piston.

Why do you say the stock pistons suck? I have never heard of one failing. They are forged from the factory. As stated above I would guess the rod went and took the pistons with it.

Just a guess though

I agree the factory pistons and rods were designed to hold the factory specified HP and RPM.

My factory set up had 96K on it with no issues. I went with a built lower end for racing purposes.

there is the possibility that it may be tune related as well. what is the power level you are running? i know that the diablo tunes may be a little to hot sometimes
