I just had the Viper 791 installed, and it's a piece of junk. I'm taking my L back and having a Clifford Intelliguard 750 put in, the same as was in my 'Vette. Nothing but trouble with the Viper - sensors work sporadically; the door sensors will not arm because the dome light stays on 5 seconds after you close the door; the proximity sensor will warn but not set the alarm off; and the list goes on.

Most alarms are made by the same people. So just find you like and get it.

Talking COOL FACTS

I do not think its the Viper itself that had problem, it might be the installer too..........I had the Clifford installed in my Honda Prelude modified to the max and the dam thang su*ks..........because someone at XXX store in town did a crappy job and wired it wrong and did not even wired some..........I found this our about a month later when I had my friend re-wired everything and it worked fine..........I think the Viper is cool, I brought one before, it was one of the talking viper alarms too and other people just mess with it more................hee............hee..........

A Glock 19. Wimpy gun to many, but it is an effective deterrant.

Now I just have to fix the holes in the bed where I missed the perp. j.k.

An alarm may keep them from taking the time to clean you out ... Yes they will still break the window - Yes the will stilll get the stereo head unit - BUT they probobly wont take the time to clean out the change from the console...

viper and clifford are both made by DEI so it's not going to help. Sounds like your installer didn't do a quality job.

For the doors to work properly, they need to grab the wires at the switches, not the black/blue wire. Lots of installers won't go through that effort.

I have a Viper 791xv but only paid $185 shipped off eBay. Installed it myself and all is well. It's a bad *** alarm!

Viper and Low-Jack. .44 magnum as a primary deterant.
