Powder Coating question regarding the Eaton casing

Is it safe to have an Eaton case powdercoated? My concerns were case warpage during the baking process. Has anybody else had this done?

I wouldnt recommend it at all I degign powder systems for a living and without the unit bolted down that aluminum is going to move I think it would be a bad Idea!

powder...

the only thing i would see as a problem in powder coating the blower is the bearings...they have plastic on them and i'm sure it would melt during the 500-700 degree baking process.....and i DO have my timing cover powder coated along with the lower intake and IC bracket....had no problems and they look great

I dont think you would have a problem with the timing cover But those tolerances are quite tight I belive in that blower housing I personally wouldnt risk it but that is just me!

It ALL has to do with who's doing the work. Hell, I had my 4 silencer holes welded shut and the thing still runs fine.

Why not just clean it real good and paint it like Superfords did and many others.

I used a ceramic high temp paint on my blower this time.

I had my front cover powder coated and the only issue was that i craked by the dampner area. Maybe it weakens the alum. ?
